The Written Revolution is a book blog that connects storytelling and activism. It is my belief that books can change the world. In some cases, they already have.

Studies show that reading literary fiction can make you more empathetic.  Some stories have even inspired local chapters of activists. Furthermore, books are often quite literally the difference between life and death: low literacy rates have been linked to low life expectancies. Representation and diverse books  are also sources of empowerment and empathy, which ultimately lead to a kinder world. Even access to books can change lives; for instance, incarcerated people who educate themselves in prison are less likely to be incarcerated again.

The Written Revolution was created to amplify and continue this work through book reviews and other book-related content (you can read more about its inspiration in this post). If you have questions or comments, you can contact me here–I would love to hear from you! And I’m always looking for book recommendations.
